About Therapy

I’m an Integrative Therapist, meaning that I’ve trained in several types of therapy. I use these tools in my practice so that I’m more responsive to your needs, and together we can explore the best way of working together. Where appropriate I work with childhood experiences, these can have a long-lasting effect on how we see the world and how we have experienced it. Exploring how these have affected your life and your relationships can help you to understand and make sense of them, enabling you to reframe, make changes in your life and start to heal from them.

My foundations are firmly set within Person Centred and Humanistic Therapy. I believe that you’re the expert on yourself and I will walk alongside you - offering you empathy, a calm, relaxed, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to share the issues you are facing.

I offer both short and long-term therapy.

Counselling or Psychotherapy?

These terms can be confusing, counselling is a term widely used in the UK and can help you to gain a new perspective and understanding on the issues you are finding difficult in your life and will help to bring about change in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, it is considered to be short term therapy.

Psychotherapy can help those who have experienced long term issues such as trauma, difficulties with self-esteem, self-confidence, relationships and other unwanted behaviours exploring a person’s way of being within the world and their thought processes rather than focusing on just one problem or issue.

I work in a way which means there is overlap between the two, so I consider myself to be both a psychotherapist and a counsellor.
